Start Up Your Business is a free four-week online programme designed to help you turn your ideas into action.
This group is for women and runs from 03.03.27 to 24.03.27.
Whether you’re still exploring an idea or have launched a business within the last 12 months, you’ll join a small online group of 10 people and spend one hour a week learning from experienced Essex-based start-up experts.
Across four weeks, you’ll:
01 | Find the Opportunity – Shape your idea and understand your customers.
02 | Make the Numbers Work – Get to grips with costs, pricing and finances.
03 | Test and Take it to Market – Test your idea and start reaching customers.
04 | Connect, Fund and Launch – Explore funding, networks and your next steps.

You’ll also receive 10% off FSB membership, access to funding advice from Allica Bank, and the option to complete Finance Foundations, an online skills course with CPD certificate.
Start Up Your Business is free and open to all Essex residents aged 25+ (excluding Southend and Thurrock) who want to start a new business or side hustle, or have a business less than 12 months old. You can take part whether you are employed or unemployed – you don’t need any experience, all you need is a business idea.
Places are limited and participants must commit to all four sessions.

All sessions are delivered on Zoom from 10am-11am.
Group 2 starts on 3rd March 2027 and runs each week until 24th March (Group 2 is dedicated to female participants) – hosted by Sarah Brockwell
Start Up Your Business is part of the Working Families Programme and is delivered by The Consortium in collaboration with the Essex Growth Agency.
No experience is necessary. Open to people and businesses Essex, excluding Southend and Thurrock.

How much does it cost to take part in Start Up Your Business?
ZERO! There is no cost to take part in the programme which is fully-funded through the Working Families Programme.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible, you or your business must be based in Essex (excluding Southend and Thurrock)
You must be age 25+.
You must either have a business that is less than 12 months old, or want to start up a new business.
You must undertake to attend all 4 sessions.
Do I need any experience in business?
No experience is necessary.
Do I need to be unemployed to take part?
No - you can be any employment status.
What do I need to take part?
You just need a device (laptop, iPad, smart phone, computer) with an internet connection. We will send you the Zoom link for the sessions. You don't need to download anything in advance.
